26. Prepositions at End

In formal grammar, we shouldn't end sentences with prepositions. But in modern spoken English, it is

and natural, especially in questions and relative clauses.

- Formal: "For whom are you waiting?" (Too stiff/old). - Normal: "Who are you waiting

?" - Normal: "What are you looking

?" - Normal: "Where do you come

?"

- "He is the man (who) I spoke

."
