- A plan in the past that usually didn't happen.
- "I was going to call you, but I forgot."
2Would (Future from Past)
- When you are telling a story about the past, and mention the future of that time.
- "I knew he would win." (At that moment, 'will' became 'would').
3Was About To
- Immediate future in the past.
- "I was about to leave when the phone rang."
